# Fund your campaign wallet

> Add campaign funds, understand the reserve, settle, and refund lifecycle, and read wallet statement entries.

At the end of this page, your campaign wallet holds a balance and you can read every charge on its statement.

The campaign wallet is a prepaid USD balance, separate from your subscription. Campaigns spend from it, and nothing else does.

## Before you start

Before you start, sign in to <a href={urls.app}>the dashboard</a> and select the organization you want to work in.

* Your organization is on the Premium or Enterprise plan. A Free organization sees **Campaigns unlock on Premium** in place of the wallet.
* Adding funds needs the Admin or Billing role.

## Add funds

## How campaigns spend the balance

Wallet spending follows a reserve, settle, refund lifecycle.

| Stage   | What happens                                                              |
| ------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Reserve | Before sending, the campaign reserves its estimated cost from the balance |
| Settle  | After provider results arrive, the actual delivery cost is settled        |
| Refund  | Unused reservations and failed-send reservations return to the balance    |

A campaign cannot start unless the balance covers its estimated cost. Cancelling a scheduled campaign before it starts sending refunds its unused reserved funds.

## What WhatsApp messages cost

The cost of one WhatsApp message depends on the recipient's country and on the template's pricing category, which is marketing, utility, or authentication. Tars looks up the rate for that country and category, then applies the per-category markup of your organization's plan. Countries without their own rate use a default rate.

The estimated cost shown in the campaign builder uses the same pricing, so the estimate and the settlement match unless deliveries fail.

## Read the statement

The statement has the columns **Date**, **Type**, **Description**, **Amount**, and **Balance**. Each row records one movement.

| **Campaign**   | Money reserved or charged for a campaign            |
| **Settlement** | The actual cost settled after delivery results      |
| **Refund**     | Unused or failed-send money returned to the balance |
| **Credit**     | Funds added to the wallet without a payment         |

## Verify

After a top-up, the balance increases by the amount you paid and the statement shows a **Top-up** row. The **Fund your campaign wallet** prompt on the **Campaigns** page clears once the wallet is funded. It does not come back if the balance later returns to zero.
